How I Would Like to Earn a Living

forsale

Have I ever mentioned that I have my Real Estate license?  Yes, it is true.   My license is inactive at the moment but I do plan to keep it and hopefully use it again one day.

I took a layoff package when we moved to the lake about 6 years ago or so and went to school to get my Real Estate license.  The plan was to sell lake properties and earn a living doing this.  And since houses are just about my favorite thing in the world I thought It would be perfect for me.  So, I gave it a shot but unfortunately I was unsuccessful in my endeavor and we ran low on money before I got my business off the ground.  It was then that I decided to re-enter the Advertising industry.  It seems I am not a natural sales person.  Maybe I’m a little too laid back and not driven enough.  I had a really great time trying though.   I actually looked forward to going into the office and really enjoyed showing properties.  Real Estate is a cut throat business and it was difficult to make a place for myself in a small town where there were more Realtors than Buyers.  It was a lot of fun while it lasted but in the end the only thing I sold was my own house so that we could move back to the stinking city.

One of these days I will try again.  I long to do something where I am my own boss and in control of my own time.  If I were my own boss I would always get 5’s at appraisal time.  Sweet!    Who knows, maybe I might even sell something next time.

My hubs is a real estate broker and LOVES it...his office is at the BEACH and I'm his little helper...I did work at the office for a couple of years...now I work from HOME:) Maybe when things pick up in the house market you should give it another try!

I couldn't sell anyone, anything!
I am a lousy sales person!!! I give so much credit to those that make their living selling property. That is a hard job!!

Don't give up on your dream...just do it differently...maybe part time on weekends...buy a fixer upper...go to open houses...the little vintage trailer business is also good...my hubby and I have been building for ourselves for the past ten years after a lifetime of re-modeling jobs...we couldn't be happier...

People that sell homes for a living have my respect also. It is some very long hours and all those number facts you have to know. I am terrible at math, I swear I still count on my fingers. And then all those personalities out there to deal with. My Mom used to work as a receptionist/secretary in a real estate office and I think it was her best work experience. I think she just loved the whole atmosphere. I would definitely get back to doing it Lone Star when you think the time is right!

Hubby has said for quite a few years that I should be selling houses. Just not sure I could be that cut throat with so many other agents out there, and DO NOT want to deal with the late night phone calls after already settling in for the night and unplugging my brain.

Real Estate is a hard job. My youngest daughter was a kindergarten teacher for six years and now sells real estate and loves it, but it is a hard start, especially lately. I'm with you, those reviews at work are worthless when there is no raise involved, like mine was this year.
