I was afraid of this… this is what we found across the street from the property that we went to look at today. I’m pretty sure the Hatfield's lived here at some point.
Or perhaps they lived here, just a little down the road.
They may have lived here…All I know is that I WON’T live anywhere close to this mess. EVER! And I mean EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I would rather live in the city the rest of my life. Hillbilly is getting really mad at me for referencing the Hatfield's. He is taking it personally. He says it's like making fun of his own family even though there is no relation. I'm not doing it to be a biotch (even though I am).
We did see this cute little donkey on the way. I feel sorry for him. Someone needs to clean his pen. Please.
Pretty little train station in town…I suggest anyone that lives within 30 miles of the property we looked at should take the first train out of town…I’m just sayin…
We stopped at the lake on our way home and found this little fatty. He posed for me. The fish must not have been biting because all of the cattle were laying down. So they say.
Fatty lives here.
I live in Cowtown…and today I’m glad.

I would have to say that the term "rustic" might not fit in this instance? This is pure junkyard! Ugh.
Sometimes those photos of the gorgeous house that the realty company likes to post just don't tell the whole story, do they?!
(Although perhaps a faded sepia tone pic of that house might do it some justice, LOL)
lol...If at first you don't succeed try try again...
I am sure that is not the view you would like to have on a daily basis, but you know there is a diamond in the rough out there just waiting to be found. Even though you want it to happen right away try to enjoy the journey. There is a book called "How to find the ideal country home" that I have, I will send it to you if you want to email me your address, I already found the property I hope to build on in New Mexico and am making payents on my someday dream. The book has some really great tips on what to be looking for and what to avoid when it comes to water rights, construction issues, zoning, and neighbors etc.
Happy Sunday!!
Definitely not the view you were looking for. It sounds like you will be at least a little happier where you are while you continue your search. Funny that Hillbilly is defending the Hatfields.
P.S. I would go back there and get those two metal chairs...surely they wouldn't miss them...
LSQ we have some lovely scenery like that not too far from us. It isn't nearly as bad but it ain't pretty. The country in our little bit of country has an odd mix of very nice homes with all things neat clean and pretty and then a few scary places now and then. It isn't unusual for us to have some neighbor's chickens, cows or horses somewhere on our property. We usually just wait for someone to come fetch them and if they are not doing any damage and behaving themselves we let them stay for a visit!
well there is always next time...cute donkey...
Take that old train station and make a kick butt house!
As much as I love seeing the pics of home, I agree. I couldn't live within eyesight of that place. It would completely drive me bonkers.
But the donkey & cows were super cute. All they have over here are goats & chickens.
Much love from an overseas Army wife,
Jennifer
We live w-a-y out in the country. You are actually on our property for 1/2 mile befoe you come to our driveway. When youn drive past our home you are still on our prop for 1 mile before the next home. And it looks like THAT place in your pic!!!
They joke how their place looks like Sanford and Son.They think it is truly funny :( Last time she said that I laughed and replied, Yep, it does, and thank God our farm is big enough property wise that your home is too far away to effect our prop values!
There is no reason to live like this. And get this-he is a county commisioner! Good Lord....
I am going to look at a piece of property tomorrow. I pray that there are no Hatfields in the area. I already live next door to one in suburbia! I'll post pics tomorrow.
