Ingredients:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp dark amber maple syrup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp cider vinegar
- 1 tsp smoked sweet paprika
- 1/2 tsp coarse black pepper (or more to taste)
Place a small sauce pot over medium heat and add all the ingredients. Once the mixture starts to steam reduce the heat to medium low and let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes until slightly thickened and flavors are combined.
Bourbon Orange BBQ Sauce
Also add in:
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 shots of bourbon
- Juice of 1/2 orange

This sounds like a great sauce recipe. I like it thick and dark. Yum, do you have any brisket to go with that?

I agree with Sallie above, it sounds like it would be really good with some brisket....or may be some ribs. Yum!
Wish I had had this about 20 years ago. The second or third brisket my husband cooked, not long after we had been married, turned out sooo good. WE decided if we could do briskets and OUR OWN bbq sauce we would be so clever. He remembered his mom used to make homemade sauce and we called her to get the recipe. I eagerly waited to write down her instructions (such a good wife & DIL I was) and knew I was in serious trouble when she started with ... "10 gallons of ketchup..." I'm serious! Her recipe was enough BBQ sauce to feed the small town my husband grew up in. I'm saving your recipe and giving it a try this summer. Thanks.
